Why I write my posts in English
If you have read some of my other posts you might have guests that I'm from Germany and that my mother language is indeed German. So why is my blog in English?
I myself have ask me this question and I had to think about it for a while. It mainly boils down to three reasons.
First of all that seems to be what everybody else is doing. This thesis is based on the blogs I read myself. Keep in mind English and German are the only languages I know (except for a few words of French) so my data is really bias. Still, I'm not subscribed to a whole lot of blogs written in German. Whenever I try out something new, I first look at what other people are doing. Then I try to learn from then and once I feel like I at least got some of the basics I aim to add my own spin. So it felt quiet natural to write in English. Except when it felt really weird...
Which brings us to the second reason. I want to practise my written English. I spend a lot of my time online reading or listening to English content but I rarely get a chance to speak or write in English. So when I do have to use English, I sometimes find myself struggling even with simple sentences like this one. Which really annoys me. The solution is simple: Keep practising.
Last but not least: There are just a lot more people speaking English than German. Don't get me wrong. I'm not doing this for the money (I would be in the wrong place any ways). But I want still this blog to be accessible to as much people as possible. Although these posts might not be as nuanced as Shakespeare or quiet as well researched as the New York Times they are mine. I really enjoy writing here and I hope I have not bored you to death.
Anyway feel free to give me feedback about my language and grammar. I'd appreciate it very much :)
